May Day Baskets: What is May Day?

DRUMROLL PLEASE...AND THE UPDATED TOTAL IS $15,240!!!

What is May Day? 

This old tradition is still practiced today in various parts of The United States. When April began to come to a close, people would start to gather flowers, candy, and other sweet treats and goodies to put in May baskets.

Done on May 1st, participants would hang their May Day Baskets on someone's door to express romantic interest, and if the basket-hanger was seen by the recipient, they could chase their gift giver and try to steal a kiss! 

Today, most Americans don't know about this fun Spring tradition, and it can be a fun way to get into the warmer season and spread joy, love, positivity and friendship. 

Why We Do It 

We are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community, and to the animals and pet parents of the Chicago-land Suburbs. These May Day Baskets will be donated to local shelter pets, and we will film their reactions for social media to aid them in finding their fur ever homes.

Get Involved 

This past April through May 21st, customers could donate a $4.99 May Day Basket in store, or online with Two Bostons doubling their donation to create a basket filled with $10 worth of treats, chews and goodies! 

In May of 2023, we raised $13,520 and this year for 2024 we have exceeded that with a grand total of $15,240! Together, we can make an immeasurable difference in the lives of shelter pets.
